Poor Zed, brilliant in many ways but short-sided in web vision. That statement is equivalent to saying:

i really think that all tools will degenerate to a swiss army knife eventually

I am sorry but you can not, nor ever will be able to build a house with a swiss army knife… not to mention a sky scraper.

I really think he is referring to the sorts of feature creep and scope adjustments that have led Typo to become a swiss army knife. Nothing to do with web vision, only our tendencies as developers to introduce bloat to our applications.

  3. Phil said about 3 hours later:

    It’s a reference to Zawinski’s Law:

“Every program attempts to expand until it can read mail. Those programs which cannot so expand are replaced by ones which can.”

  4. JV said about 8 hours later:

Furthermore, Lucas, that statement is not equivalent because software development is not construction ;)

  5. Lucas Carlson said about 23 hours later:

JV, I am sorry, I promise never again to compare two different things in order to try to find a similarity which allows a deeper understanding of the original subject. ;)

  6. JV said 1 day later:

    Lucas,

That’s your decision. I merely stated my opinion ;)
